Web development is the process of creating a website for the world wide web. At its core, web development is programming, but web developers use specific language types that software developers do not. Mark-up languages provide the structure for all web pages in web development. This web page, for instance, is written in hypertext mark-up language. Style sheet languages are used to style the content of HTML web pages. The most common style sheet language is a cascading style sheet language. Scripting languages are used on the server-side to make a web page more dynamic. Usually, even technical web developers will have graphic design and photoshop skills to make the user interface of a website more appealing, but I won't be mentioning any of that for now.
Front-End Web Developers
Front-end web developers design what you see when you visit any website. Front-end web development is where many web developers begin learning. Itís an easy first step. HTML documents can be coded using a basic text editor. This is appealing to people who arenít experienced in coding languages. A web page is considered a static web page if it is coded only in HTML and CSS. This is very basic. If you would like to increase traffic to your web page, some back-end development is usually needed.
Back-End Web Developers
Back-end web developers are responsible for what you don't see. They code in scripting languages. Examples of some scripting languages are PHP, Ruby, Bash, and Perl. Scripting languages create apps, games, and other dynamic effects on a web page.
Full-Stack Web Developers
Full-Stack developers are capable of front end and back end web development. A lot of IT companies prefer to hire a developer who only specializes in one end, but knowing both will make you a more competitive candidate.
